So if medication were unavailable from the vet would you use Arnia or Traumeel as some are saying or do you use an over-the-counter? Not trying to sound like I know nothing about dogs I have just never had an injury (thank God) of this nature in any of the dogs I have had.

I asked them about medication for the discomfort they said not until they evaluated her themselves. She is not yelping or showing that she is in a lot of pain but I can tell that she is uncomfortable at least. Others have commented that it may be best to not medicate her so as not to mask the pain and create further injury. What is your opinion about that?

Sorry for bothering you directly but you seem pretty knowledgeable and I am not one of the "in-crowd" on this forum so I struggle getting answers sometimes. My 6.5 month old Eden is "gimpy" on her right back leg. She shows no tenderness to touch from hip to paw and is bearing weight on the leg but she is light on it with just a bit of a limp. I have called the vet and they seem to think it may be just a soft tissue sprain/injury and advised me to keep her off of it as much as possible and soak it in an Epsom Salt wrap. They cannot get her in till Saturday unless there is a cancelation unless it appears to worsen to the point that she will not bear weight on it. My question is what can I do to help alleviate the discomfort for her? She is not acting her normal goofy self (typically very kangaroo like jumping) so I know she is in discomfort although she is eating and is not grouchy or withdrawn. Are there any suggestions as to what I can do to speed her healing or ease the discomfort?

DJetzel - I was serious when I said I was just like you when I was your age. You remind me so much of myself when I was younger. But I do remember how annoying it was when older people would discount what I said because I was young. Now I'm becoming one of those older people. Carrie
