Hello,

My name is Leigh Clark and I am a volunteer with Mid- Atlantic German
Shepherd Rescue, http://www.magsr.org. Recently, one of our beloved dogs was
visiting family in in Claremont, NH and is now lost. She was last seen
October 20, 2008 near downtown Claremont, approx. 5 miles where she got away
from her owner. We are DESPERATE to find her.

Mercy lives in Maryland and doesn't know the area. She doesn't stay in a
radius and her traveling pattern is linear. Any help you can offer would
be greatly appreciated.be greatly appreciated.<WBR>We are DESPERA
appreciate any help or advise you can offer.

Since we are in Maryland, our knowledge of pet trackers and others we could
enlist to help is limited. I am attaching a flyer and ask if you could
please possibly post to your website and send to other rescues who may be able to help as well.

Mercy is microchipped and was last seen still with her collar on which has
our MAGSR tag. Please free to call me anytime- (H) 443-203-6346 or (W)
800-747-2820 or (C) 410-533-6699.

Thank you,

Leigh Clark

Re: Claremont, NH Fellow rescuer needs help! PHOT

I know there are probably posters put up, but just a thought... has anyone notified the local road crew? They travel the roads every day, maybe they can keep an eye open for Mercy.Maybe even the telephone crews, and electric crews that are out in about.

Prayers for a happy ending! Is she still coming to the trap? It is hunting season, maybe try and get the word out to them at deer stations.

AWESOME!!! I kept checking this thread for updates and I was almost scared to look when I saw recent activity. Mercy's family must be so relieved; we have had some terrible weather lately.

Wishes and healing thoughts sent for a speed recovery!

Many thanks to the kind people of NH who opened their homes up to frozen vols and helped look for Mercy. They fed her and kept an eye out Two other dogs were found and returned to grateful owners. She is thin and weak and at the vets as I write this. She was in horrible weather for a long time. Nice to have good news once in awhile

Claremont, NH Mercy was Found! She's Safe!

I just got this in an e-mail! Great News!!

Quote: Detailed reply:

She ran on Oct. 15 and was found on December 24. She was found about 1.5
miles from where we thought she was. We originally got fliers to all the local
vet's offices. As it tuns out, what happened was that she was seen climbing under
someone's backyard shed and they in turn, called one of those offices (that
being Claremont Animal Hosp.). From there, the hospital said, "I think the dog
you are describing is the dog on this flier". They then gave the homeowner the
phone # on the flier. The homeowner called the number, the person responded
and confirmed it was Mercy. When she ran away she weighed over 70lbs. When she
was picked up, she weighed 47lbs. We think she was crawling under the shed to
die. She was completely exhausted and did not attempt to flee. She had to be
picked up to be loaded in the truck. She is now residing back in her adoptive
home and her weight is already in the high 60's.

Mercy was originally adopted from our rescue, Mid Atlantic German Shepherd
Rescue (_http://www.magsr.org/_ (http://www.magsr.org/) ). Those of us who were
actively looking for her in Claremont, NH are actually from Maryland. The
drive is about 10 hours one way and we made the trip up to NH three times, one of
which was during the horrible ice storm (worst in NH history). We made friends
with one local resident from NH and she was a true Godsend. She helped post
fliers, report to supposed sightings, etc. and she has since joined our rescue.

Through it all, because we called so much attention to her via newspaper,
fliers, word of mouth, etc., 2 other dogs were captured as people thought they
were her. One of those dogs had been gone since summer '08 and was reunited with
it's owner. It was in very bad shape but recovered.

It was an amazing journey, one of which I would gladly do all over again but
hope I never have to. Many, many tears were shed

Monty

Hi Gaele!
Thank you so much for forwarding this.
As it turns out, our Mercy was found and is now home safe. She was in very
rough shape when she was found/caught. We ran a story in the Claremont Eagle
Times on her. She also goes by the name Maxie. Mercy was her name was she was
with the rescue but her adopter changed her name to Maxie.
Had I known her info was still floating around in cyberspace, I would have
somehow contacted you to let you know.
Thanks again for contacting me!
