This very nice looking and very affectionate intact male GSD seems to have gotten lost in the Wells Branch area of Austin. So I've taken him for the time being.

He's so well-kept and well behaved that I can't believe his owner's not looking for him. Please come and take him home.

Well, his owner never did show up.

But from my ad on Craiglist, I was pretty overwhelmed with people who wanted him.

Finally I let him go home with a young family in Round Rock -- Mom, Dad, and two girls -- who just fell in love with him.

They named him Kai, and I think he's going to do really well with them.

Thanks so much for helping him!

My beautiful, stately, silly boy that we lost in December to hermangiosarcoma came to us as a stray from Austin, TX. He was a tall sable, and the AC people thought he was a malinois, apparently they weren't used to sables! The malinois rescue group down there (we're in MI) did take him, saying maybe he was a GSD/mali cross, and because they didn't have room for him, he found his way up to a woman who fosters malinois near Jackson, MI, and he ended up with us, in mid-Michigan. He was all GSD, with a number tattooed in his ear from the United Schutzhund Clubs of America. While he was at Austin Animal Control, the people who owned him did find him there, but said they couldn't afford to get him out. They must not have been able to afford food or vet care for him either, because he came to Michigan at least 30 lbs. underweight and heartworm positive.

He was a wonderful boy, my Caesar, and we lost him prematurely--we had him only three years, but I will always be grateful to the people in Austin, TX who saved him and sent him on his way to us!

Hope Kai is happy in his new home, glad you were able to care for him and help him find a new family.

LOL...I'm surprised you were able to pry him off the floor. he looks mighty comfy there to me.
