Found-German Shepard in Wilmington, NC

A full-blooded male German Shepherd approached me in my backyard Sunday evening in the Ogden/Gordon Rd area of Wilmington, NC. The dog had a collar but no identifying tags. I walked the neighborhood for hours and asked if anyone knew who the owners might be, with no luck.

I have two male Boxers in my own home and therefore am unable to keep the Shepherd until the owners are found. I took the Shepherd to the New Hanover County Animal Control this morning and will be checking on him periodically. If anyone is missing this dog, please reply to this thread or contact Animal Control of New Hanover County.

Was he checked for a micro chip?

There's a lost male GSD posted on Petfinder from the Middlesex, NC area - according to the map it's not real close to Wilmington, but dogs can cover quite a bit of distance. Here's a link to the ad:
