Both were found outside of Springfield, Ohio, but they were not together. These are two totally separate and unrelated postings.
1. Female, chipped with Home Again, but without complete records for them to be able to contact the owner. She was found hungry and invading someone's garbage can. They took her in, got her healthy, left their contact information with Home Again, and got some very sketchy information about her name, and perhaps city of origin (although they didn't mention the state). I wonder if maybe she was travelling through the area and was involved in an auto accident in the area. The new family placed a found ad and took other appropriate steps to find the family. She has been with them about 6 months, so I think they found her maybe end of October, beginning of November, and now they are absolutely 100% in love with her. 2. A GSD was dumped near town out on a country road in October 2009. He was terrified, had no immediate survival skills, and was skittish. He wouldn't let people approach him and he dropped weight drastically and immediately. We would only catch sightings of him every now and then, usually standing on the road in the middle of the night as someone swerved to miss him. The humane society hasn't been able to find him, catch him or trap him. He finally started taking food that was left in a bowl in a nearby area for him, and is gradually putting weight back on. Unknown if he has a collar, or if it's even a male, to be honest. I've only seen the briefest glimpses of him, and he's splotchy, not what I would call the best bred german shepherd coat-wise, and has even been mistaken for a coyote when he was at his straggliest. I would have said that he might have gotten too big, wasn't treated well, and was dumped when they get to that "oh my god what did I get myself into" puppy vs. adult stage. I don't think his family is looking for him, but then again, it could be someone who dumped him out of spite when his family really wants him back, so am posting just in case it helps him find a way home. A lot of dogs are intentionally dropped in this area when people think they stand a better chance than the pound. |

Please keep us posted about both. Any information on color and markings of either animals... There's people on here who have lost their GSDs in Feb of '09, me as one.
Vinnie is a nuetered male, sable coloring. He has been missing since Feb 15, 2009... we tracked him with sightings but they ended in late '09. If they get that GSD, make sure to scan. He is microchipped. Also, see if you or someone else can post pictures. We all know what our missing GSDs look like ![]() And thanks for posting!!
