My sister found this lovely male GSD earlier this week near her home. The weather is so cold that she stopped and picked him up. He is wearing a collar and has lovely temperament. My sister's spayed female GSD is thrilled to have a companion and the cats are unsure, but not being threatened in any way. He gets along wonderfully with all of her family and just clings to my sister like velcro (a thankful rescued dog).
She can not keep him permanently and needs to either find his owner or place him with someone who would love to have a German Shepherd. She did take him to the local shelter and he is not microchipped. His collar has no tags. She is calling local vets to see if they know him and will be placing a found pet ad in the local paper as well. Here are his photos. Does anyone recognize him or would anyone like to give this guy a warm safe home? My sister reports that he is thin and she has wormed him with Panacur. He has not marked or urinated in the house and she is suprised by this as it appears that he spent a good deal of time outside in his life so far. The family is very taken with him and would love to see him safe and warm. ![]() ![]() ![]() My sister is raving about his temperament and does not want to take him to the local shelter. She will hold on to him for a little while longer so that she can either find his owner or do her best to find him a safe permanent place. Shannon |

I wonder if he was dumped?. I wouldn't take him to the shelter either especially if he has great temperment. How about a shepherd rescue if you can't his owner?.
He is a looker! i'd take him if Josie wasn't still a puppy!. Hope he find his warm home

This male's owner was found on Friday and she no longer wants him. He needs a place to go and I am having some difficulty at this point. The history is that the is three years old, was originally a stud dog with an owner in Virginia Beach, VA and was sold when his former owner purchased another male. The second owner "rescued" him from life as a breeding dog, but never neutered him. His vet records are available from the second owner.
My sister needs to find a place for him to go as she can not keep him permanently. He is good with people, her female GSD and does not threaten their two cats (just interest, not prey drive). Does anyone have any suggestions? Shannon |

Poor little guy--to be lost in such awful weather and then not even wanted by his owner! He is really cute. I hope he finds a good home. I wonder if this should be moved to the Non-Urgent Adoption section to get more exposure for him. Also, I'll bet some more pictures would help too.

Karin:
He is already posted in the Non-Urgent Rescue forum as well. I posted him in both places just in case his owner might have been looking for him. No such luck this time. Shannon |
