In the interim, please cross post this: I am looking for an act of kindness and a good loving home for a lost German Shepherd. She was probably scared New Year’s Eve by the loud noises. This story started New Year’s morning. I was driving south on Central Ave approaching Bethany Home and saw this German Shepherd trotting north on the center yellow line. She was totally ignoring the cars and looked very scared. I turned around and tried to get her to stop and get in my car. But, she gave me a wide berth. Other people walking and in their cars tried for 2.5 miles to stop and keep her from being killed by a car. With my heart in my throat, I watched her cross Glendale Ave. against the red light. Finally, myself and 3 other men managed to corner her. One of the men took her home and the rest of us gave him our telephone number. As of today, it is my turn to watch the dog until a good home is found. The dog has no tags or chip. She is very sweet, house broken and very good around people and with other dogs. She is well behaved on a leash and in a car. We guess she may be between 3 and 4 years old and has been well taken care of. She is large (about 90 lbs?). I looked at the Lost & Found ads on Petfinder and there is a Lost posting for a young female GSD in that general area who went missing on 12-31-09. I've e-mailed the poster on Petfinder with a link to the post here and also the man above with the Petfinder info.
The dog on Petfinder is described as having a collar & tags, but anything's possible.

I saw that too and I emailed the poster. The dog on Petfinder is described as having a purple collar and the collar on this dog sure looks purple to me. Wouldn't it be great if they were the same dog! I hope they get our message!

I got an e-mail from the lady on Petfinder who lost the GSD girl in the Phoenix area -
This "Found" GSD girl is not her dog, but the good news is that someone found her dog, went back to the area she was found and saw a "Lost Dog" flyer and they are in the process of being reunited!!
