I received an e-mail from a rescue friend about a female GSD who wandered into her friend's yard and seems to want to stay. The lady who lives there has tried to find the owner with no luck. She can't keep her doesn't want to turn her over to the dog warden and there is no collar or microchip. They say she seems very sweet, but very scared. The lady lives in the south end of Toledo, OH.
If anyone knows of a lost female GSD in the northwest OH area, or if you'd like to adopt her or take her into rescue, please contact Tosha at ttacarman@sbcglobal.net and she will put you in contact with the woman who found her.

The poor girl. She looks so sad and scared. She looks a lot like a dog that I remember seeing on this forum a while back that was stolen. The woman posted for a long time about it, but I can't remember what state it was or the member's user name. Does anyone else remember this? It's a long shot, but you never know...

I found it! Here is the dogs picture:
![]() Her name is Maya and the member's name is HorseCrazy3621. Here's the original thread: http://www.germanshepherds.com/forum...page=0&fpart=1 It's been over a year since she's logged on, but I remember her story really getting to me. Does this look like the same dog to anyone else? She has very similar coloring and markings. I know it says that Maya had a microchip and this one doesn't. Any chance of a microchip getting dislodged?

Wow - they really do look similar -
I've heard that some microchips are not compatible with some readers and vice versa, so you never know - HorseCrazy3621 doesn't have an e-mail address in her profile - I'll send the lady who sent me the e-mail a note to call her "Maya" and see if she responds - I'll send this thread to HorseCrazy also, but if she hasn't logged on in over a year, I doubt that she'll get it. EDITED: Before I do that, doesn't it look like the dog found in Toledo has a dew claw on her right front leg? HorseCrazy's post says Maya doesn't have front dew claws.

As far as the microchips, yes it is possible for them not to be read. My Zappa has a Home Again microchip and it is unable to be read anymore. I have to have him re-microchipped. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
