This dog was actually pulled from a kill shelter last Saturday in Indiana. They had her a month and could not put her in adoption as she wasn't thriving there. She is a beautiful girl. Tattoo in ear. The rescue does not want to find her owner. Had her spayed and is wanting to place her on petfinder.com. Please email me if you are missing a beautiful German Shepherd bitch that is tattooed.

If she was at the shelter a month, legally the rescue is her owner.

What is the tattoo number? Have they checked with the WDA or USA?

It sounds like the rescue isn't interested in checking. This may be a shame because I can think of cases where a dog escapes when traveling or is transported and escapes.

True, and you hope people make good a faith effort. On the other hand, I've never yet traced back a dog to the owner/breeder and had them want the dog back (I still try, but it's never had a good outcome). When we see a case like this it's easy to imagine ourselves in that former owner's position but sadly the reality is that most dogs don't have grieving owners desperate to find them. And the owners had a month to find the dog in the shelter and didn't. Even if it was out of area, you'd hope a good owner would circulate notices (of the sort we see on the board).

They're lucky the rescue helped the dog and she wasn't PTS.

On the Pedigree database a dog came up with a tattoo, and was traced back, breeder found, owner had no current addy and the rescuer wanted to keep him. Was almost euthed as cage aggressive ... Like DUH!! he's got a SchutzHud degree and doesn't know you!!

This Lord Vom Hesperia-land. It really is amazing what ends up in rescues/shelters...!!! His pic is one I have on my screen saver:

This is a litter brother... Quite a pedigree!
