Hi I have two German Shepherds we live in Nevada. I am in the process of making my yard dog friendly. My landscaper suggests using chat any opinions on this, my other option is pea gravel. This will be for ares in the yard that are not covered in artificial turf.
Thanks
Nope not a typo...chat is a fine non sharp stone which is recommended by landscaper. Unfortunately in Las Vegas grass is not an option. The artificial turf I have selected is not made from plastic therefore does not hold heat. Prior to this past week I had never heard of chat & am checking to see if anyone has used it with their dogs. It is commonly used here in LV because it does not get hot like many other stones. I just don't know if there are any downfalls to using it. Thanks everyone for your help...much appreciated
I had grass when I lived out there. But I think the chat would be fine. But how much will get kicked around by running dogs? Do you have a pool or landscaping?
there is an artificial grass made for pets. I haven't read any reviews on it. If your dogs are diggers you might take that into consideration. You wouldn't want them tearing up that expensive turf.
My only concern would be the dogs ingesting the pea gravel. It may stick to a toy - they put said toy in their mouth - gravel ends up in their stomach.
Edited to add - I am no expert by any means - this is just a common sense thing that struck my brain. I may be off base here and hopefully the experts can educate me.
