New guy from Texas!

Hello all! My name is Benjamin and my wife and I have a 5 year old female Shepherd named Lily Von Schtupp(If you get the reference you get a cookie), but we just call her Lily. She is Sable colored and a little on the smaller side, approx 65#'s. My brother pokes fun and calls her my pocket German Shepherd as our previous dogs were in the 85-90# range.

I joined this forum while looking for tips on grooming since she is shedding a lot and I am trying to be better about keeping up with it. Any recommendations on brush/combs and or techniques? We have taken her to the groomer for de-shedding and it helps a lot! I am also slowly changing her diet over to grain free and possible raw. Looking forward to increasing my knowledge here from everyone and sharing all the awesome experiences!

Here she is in the truck ready to go home:

She looks beautiful! Better diet will definitely help. I've also had great success with fish oil and cold pressed coconut oil supplements. My favorite brush is the Kong zoom groom. Rubber curry brush that does a great job pulling the hair out and can be used dry or wet.

Anyways, welcome from Denton, TX! Look forward to seeing more of her!

Welcome! She's beautiful! My sable pup is only 11 weeks old, but I've started to see a little bit of shedding, so I'm going to try the Furminator on her.

(Yep, I'm from TX as well )

Lol, is that just a thing with Texans, we all have to greet other Texans? I swear every new Texan member gets at least five or six of their first responses from members who are also from Texas. :p Maybe it's that southern compulsion to be polite that's been drilled into our heads since childhood?

LOL I've noticed that as well. I wasn't born in Texas but I've lived here for many years and I do think that it is a Texas thing. Over the years I've even picked up that special Texas pride (except for A&M lol - really not a fan).

Welcome, from Illinois. I'm not from Tx, but I visited there once....great looking dog, btw. Have fun with the shedding. Fish oil seemed to help mine, along with grain free. And being vigilant about grooming, of course. Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies and the Welcomes! I went with Lily today and picked up a Zoom Groom and some Furminator so we will see how it goes! Thanks you for the warm welcome! I am in Dallas FYI.
