Not a GSD owner, but...

Hello everyone! My name is Kelsey and I own a 1.5 year old bully mutt he recently(4ish months ago) got diagnosed with HD and has started taking Ichon injections. I'm an active member on several dog forums but not a lot of people there no about ichon/adequan or much about HD in general. Sadly, I figured GSD people would know more about it, and I stumbled across this forum. After I saw the "show your hips" forum I knew I was in the right place and decided to sign up. I was re evaluating my dogs hip xrays the other day and noticed something I hadn't noticed before.
His specialist is pretty annoyed with the amount of questions I'v asked and told me I just need to bring him every 6 months for new xrays and blood work so since my dog has been to him 3 times in the last 4 months, I don't want to take him back in or call(I just need to find a new specialist that cares more :/) -holy run on sentence batman!
Anywho, I assume I should post his xrays and some more details in the proper sub forum and hopefully someone can give me their opinion.
Thanks for reading folks!

Welcome!
I'd say you've probably come to the right place for a discussion of HD

My shepherd was diagnosed with HD at about the same age as your dog. :(

I am not good at reading x-rays, but there are several people on the forum who are.

My dog's left hip is so-so. His right hip is pretty bad- the "ball" doesn't even begin to fit down into the socket.

I immediately put him on joint supplements and I suspect he has a high tolerance for pain because he never yelps or acts like he's painful. The only indication of his HD is a different kind of gait and the fact that our play/training sessions are pretty short for such a high energy breed.

I let him decide when he is done playing and he will grab his toy and head to the house when he is at his limit.

I do have some previcox on hand in case he would need it, but so far he hasn't. He is now 3 years old.

I know there are several people on this forum who use adequan, so hopefully, a little later in the day when most folks get off work, you can get some answers.

I wish you the best of luck with him. It can be a difficult situation to deal with.

I am very interested in this as well. I hope some HD educated folks chime in and educate us!! And I would post x-rays, there seem to be many ppl on here that can read them!!

I think Kelsey has another thread where the X-rays are posted...
