New in sc

Hey. I have my 1st GSD. Her name is Pippa. I want to learn as much as I can. I have to be honest, I get a vibe that GSD clubs seem to be like the popular crowd in high school. If anyone knows of a welcoming group in South Carolina I would be grateful. My kids are at the age where I can start my own interest. Pippa is my interest. Any thing you want to share is welcome.

Great!! I'm in Charleston. I haven't meet with anyone yet, it was more word of mouth. My husband just told me that he heard from the club and we will be meeting them next week. I am so excited!!! Really looking forward to meeting people and learning new things.

I am so glad I found this website!!

Great!!!! So happy to meet someone before I walk up!!! There is so much to learn and I want to do everything right so my girl can be a good representative of the German Shepherd breed. I know if you don't start right they can be a lot to handle. I intend to make this my thing.

I'll looking forward to meeting you!!

Pippa (GSD)
Stoli (GSD) I never knew how amazing they were until my husband brought this guy home.
Snookie (my tough little yorkie)

When are you coming out? You planning on pursuing an IPO title?

I think the day was June 14th?? The email was written to my husband. Yes, I do want to try the IPO path. I am watching videos and taking her to regular puppy class right now (for the social part of it). I am getting her out there in safe situations. If you know anyone in the Summerville area that may be interested in getting together with me on a more causal basis (maybe another mom since I have kids with me often since its summer) that would be awesome. I am a bit overwhelmed but I am eager to learn. GSD have so much to offer. I am learning so much reading the forums. I see how many different paths a GSD can go in. If there is anything you think would be helpful for me to do or read please pass it on. I would love to be be shown a good path to start.

Do you guys get many beginners at the club? Is it bad to start at a club without having much knowledge?

Thanks for taking the time to help.

Lots of beginners at our club. Very few joined with prior knowledge or experience. I'd drop the puppy class if I were you, some are good but some are counter productive. The weather is nice, just go eat outside and get your socialization that way. I'll PM you.
