Default New to GSD.com

Hey guys,

Im looking to purchase a GSD from a neighbor. They are not AKC registered which is fine with me. Im just curious though if these are purebred. Can anyone verify with these pictures?

Here is the pups with mom and dad

Hi Bryce, if you like the parents and like the puppy, get one. ALthough you'll be supporting your neighbor in doing something that's a bit of a taboo here, breeding in the back yard.

Do you have better pictures of the darker adult? I've never seen a pb puppy with those white/spotted markings.

Has your neighbor done any health testing on the dogs? Any titling?

if you like the puppy and parents seem happy & healthy get it. although I agree with some other ppl here that it doesn't look purebred, I almost doubt those are the parents. I would, however, say don't buy if your neighbor regularly breeds those dogs

Thanks for the reply. Yea im going to just wait for the right one to come along and not settle. My dream is to have a pure bred sable. I may just have to do it the right way and go to a breeder.

my dream was to have a long haired dark red and black one but I didn't want to worry about the shedding during school. so I went for a ?plush? black and tan short hair and he has totally won me over. don't dream too much about the color, although there should be plenty of sables to choose from if you go for a reputable breeder. health and temperament!

That is a good idea. You don't know how many people I've met who have "buyers regret" after they see my shepherd. They've told me they have had GSDs in the past, but decided on a Lab or another breed and they can't stop staring at my dog and wished they had one. One of my daughters acquired a dog from the shelter on an impulse instead of waiting to have enough money for the breed she wanted. Three years later she feels their personalities are not a good match.

Great idea Bryce! A well-bred dog from a responsible breeder might cost more up front, but a good quality dog is going to have a lot fewer issues in the long run! Someone who knows their dogs will help you choose the dog that's right for your lifestyle too.

Rescued are awesome too... My sable is an owner surrender and the best dog I ever had.

I'm sure there are members on here that can recommend good breeders when the time is right!
