Default Hi from Illinois!

Hello! My name is Katelyn and I'm from a little town in Central Illinois :->

I've been planning on adopting a GSD so I've been poking around the forum for a little while learning what to expect. I wasn't planning on looking for some weeks yet, but surprise! While I was at work the other day (I'm a kennel assistant at a vet clinic), a 10 month old GSD boy was brought in with minor injuries after being hit by a car and the owner said she was giving him up.

Of course, I'll be taking him ((He's doing great, by the way. Pretty much already recovered.))

He'll be living in a totally different environment from where he is now so I'll be seeking lots of sagely advice before and after he gets here next week. So I hope to learn a lot from you guys!

I volunteer at a Wildlife Center -- actually, I lived there for 7 months as an intern! I've been lucky to be allowed to work with all kinds of amazing animals like foxes, hawks, owls, and one particularly sassy crow, etc. Right now I'm apprenticing under a groomer and learning the trade myself. It's a lot of fun, very interesting work! I live at home with my parents and older and younger sibling right now, we have a family dog (11 year old Australian Shepherd) and I have cat and soon a GSD. Within six months I'm planning on moving south to work at an opening doggy daycare full-time, living on-site.

Nice to meet you all!

Default Lucky pup!

Welcome! Thank you for adopting! I always feel like that the pet you adopt somehow knows what you have done for them and bond closely. You will love that pup! Bob
