Mamadog needs help

Hi everyone. I have a three month old shepherd who is shredding my hands. I know she is just teething but I have tried everything and cant seem to get her to stop. The vet said she might stop when she is nine or ten months old. Im not sure my hands, arms and legs will last that long. Im trying to teach her the off command to make her stop. What am I doing wrong.

Teach her what is okay to bite, toys, chews, and praise her when she is chewing appropriately.

And good luck, land shark stage stinks.

Landshark age is the worst.

It doesn't usually take 9 months to go away, though, more like 5 or 6. During that phase we made sure we had chew toys everywhere and would redirect her to gnaw on those instead of us. You just have to be consistent with it and not let her bite you, just the toys (although we've all been there - my forearms were always scratched up and bruised!). Around 5 or 6 months our dog just stopped and I can't say if it was because we were great about redirection or because she just got older. Either way, I was glad to see the back of it.

Good luck!

Zoe will be 3 months tomorrow and today was awful. No amount of redirection, exercise or chew toys kept her from wanting to sink her teeth in us. It was one of those days I seriously reevaluate the decisions I've made. And I'm sure everyone will have tons of suggestions and I hope you find one that works.
I feel your pain....

You need to get her some chew toys such as the nylabone so she can teeth on that instead of your hands! You just need to be consistent of redirecting her to chew on the toy instead of your hand. Also, I'm not sure if giving her the "off" command this early might confuse her in the future of the "off" command of letting a toy go.

Also, Welcome to the forums!

I found that my guy ALWAYS wants to bite whenever the cuddling/playing with me goes longer than 10 seconds. So after it moves to biting I'll use a stuffed toy and let him sink his teeth into that while still getting played with by me. Ignoring him when he bites didn't work because that means I would have hardly any direct contact with him. He was a sad panda. He just doesn't get 'no!' or being gently pushed away either. My hands are cut up too. Some people might say that any rough play is bad so don't take this advice as divine word.

To other people, does landshark refer to all german shepherds or just the biting puppies?
