what kind of training?

hi folks, am new here.

am gonna adopted a abandoned working gsd who was rescued.

estimated to be 4 to 5 years?

know "sit" command only so far.

what kind of training should i start off from?
my first adopted mix breed has pass his pre novice

so i kinda know some basic training method.

this gsd has strong prey drive, he stare and wanted the ball so much.

should i train with food first or play?

kindly advice.

Because he is brand new to you, you should just try to bond with him in the beginning. Give him a chance to get used to you and you to him. You'll know what work he needs once you see his true personality. I'd also get with a trainer who'll help you along the way.

Hondo Von Dopplet L Bauernhof "Hondo"- GSD
Lilie's Tug McGraw "Tug" - Golden Retriever
Maggie - Mini Dachshund (Rescue)
Lonestar Pivo - Texas Blue Lacy
Ashe - Barn Cat
Katie / APHA

train with the best rewards, some dogs like the ball more than food, if he already seems to really fixate on the ball, I'd use that to make training really fun -- but I agree, teach him how to play and bond with you first
