New GSD Owner!

Hey everyone im Brandon and I am a brand new GSD owner! Im very excited because this was always my favorite breed of dog. Anyways, before I actually picked up the little guy I was finding myself revisiting this site trying to find Lord knows what! My "Dettmer" just reached 8 weeks old on January 1st. His name was chosen because it was my great grandmothers maiden name who just passed away at 96 years old 2 weeks before I got my little buddy. I figured that name was german..... Its a german shepherd..... BAM! Im very excited to learn more about the breed and interact with everyone in the community! Anyways I thought that as this is my first post and I am new to the breed, if anyone has 1 tip that they think is important with raising a GSD please post! Even if it is the smallest little thing! Have fun with it!

Congrats on the new baby! Mine is only (almost) 10 weeks but I would say get him plenty to chew on!!! We have already said goodbye to a leash, a flip flop, a few pairs of socks and some of my kids hair bows. And I am home with him all day long so he is never alone in the house! Lol

:welcome: and I would have to agree that the chewing thing at this age is the biggest thing to deal with. That and learning your puppy's way of telling you that he needs to go potty!
Miika's chew tastes changed as she got older.
 Well, she still likes to chew on the cats:eek:, but that is a different story, haha.
Oh, be consistent. Decide your absolutes now so that you won't have to "change the rule" once he isn't that adorable tiny puppy.

Have lots of fun with him!
