Recently picked up our first GSD about a month ago.
She was 11 weeks old when we picked her up from the breeder.
She had 2 previous vet visits with the breeder, getting a few vaccinations and a couple de-wormings. The breeder was kind enough to have all of her paper work (vet records, receipts, AKC registration, pedigree, etc) all ready laid out in a folder for us.
She is now 15 weeks old (30.6 pds). Up to date on all vaccinations, got her rabies shot/final vaccine yesterday, has been on her first heart-worm preventative (will be ready for another dose soon), had her first flea/tick treatment (will be ready for another soon, she itches like crazy sometimes
) and will be undergoing hopefully her final de-worming this go around (still has a few wretched hookworms left
She has an unusual coloring. A cream/blonde sable, black snout w/ some black markings on her tail, and red down her back. Her mother (pictured below) also was heavy on the cream/blonde markings, however she had a good amount of black down her back (like a lot of shepherds).
Her father (also pictured below) was more of the traditional black and tan markings.
The breeder kept a black & tan male (pictured below) for their son, he was heavily on the black side with brown/tan markings below.
She's a sweet girl but knows when to push her limits (exercise is the key... I am learning). Zooey understands sit, come, and lay down pretty well. She is still mastering the up-command, and stay. She fetches pretty darn well now, however at times she likes to sort of take the ball or rope off to "her" corner if you will.
Again, she is a great gal and we are learning more together each day. I try to take it one day at a time with her.
