Coming soon! LONG WINDED
Hey!
I'm new to this forum but I thought I'd introduce myself. My husband and I are getting our GSD this week and we're super excited. Currently we own two cats and a ferret. I'd love to share a little bit about us cause I'm weird. So if you hate rambling just mosey on by. Alright you're staying NEAT! As I said I have two cats. One is named Chrono he is the ALPHA male of the house. Very dominant in a docile way. He's like the 'don' as hubby calls him. He doesn't attack nor does he need to. He gives you a look and you do as he commands. I got him as a rescue and love him so fiercely that I'd give my life for the cat. He's a momma's boy and knows just how to tweak my heartstrings when he's done something bad. Like open all the cupboards on the bottom row of the kitchen. Evil devil cat. Sylvanas is our kitten. She's adorable and we THINK she's 6 months old. We rescued her and her siblings when they were roughly 4 weeks old. Their mother had died or someone dropped them off to die and they were orphans. Hubby and I nursed each one of the little turkies back to health and didn't lose any of the 5 kittens. Thankfully 'don' Chrono took them under his wing and taught them how to be cats. Out of that litter we gave most to a good farm house (where they could eat all the mice they wanted and were well loved). But kept this little calico demon. Havoc is our ferret. He's adorable a black and white devil, he and Sylvanas gang up on Chrono and well..Its MEOW FPT! You get the point. No one gets hurt. Anywyas, he's a devil on his own no sob story for him. Just got him from a good breeder. He enjoys his purple fishie which he brings with him everywhere and hisses at anything that goes near it. Its hilarious. He'll drop it in the water dish and the food dish (while he eats and drinks respectively) and though I've explained a thousand times it doesn't need this type of nutrience...Well the fish is kinda nasty now. Our GSD is coming from a good breeder, and is CKC registered. (As we're in Canada). We live on Vancouver Island and love to hike. We're bringing him home this week (still setting up a time). Of course we decided for the most energetic one out there. Why? Because I like a challenge I guess. I had a GSD when I was a kid and my parents say he only listened to me. I barely remember him (he passed away very quickly due to old age when I was young). But what I do remember is a dog that was forever loyal to me and treated me like I was his pup. I've not owned my own GSD but have owned large breed dogs from rescue societies that pass away peacefully in the night due to old age. When we lived on our family's farm (Before it was sold), we had a beautiful golden retriever that passed over the rainbow bridge at a healthy 15. Broke my husband's heart. We usually only rescue older dogs, but hubby said he can't handle another dog passing away 'too soon' and so we have decided to go for a puppy. I'm glad to have found this forum and you will probaby see a lot of me as well as puppy when he comes home. We already have his name, but will announce it when we get his first pictures! His first big adventure is crossing over to the island on a ferry with us. So that being said, anyone know if dogs can get sea sick? Thanks for reading the rambles of me! ~Kay. |
Welcome! Looking forwards to pics.

Welcome! Can't wait for puppy pics!

Welcome to the forum!
It sounds like your pup will be in for some adventures at home! Good luck getting him and hopefully he won't get sick on the ferry ride over. Looking forward to some pictures :) |
Welcome, I can't wait to read more of your posts!

Aw thanks guys! We had to put off bringing Jr. home as there was a huge blow out at our work over the weekend, and it looks like early next week we will have him. Our breeder has posted more pictures and they look HUGE and adorable.
Just because I'm excited, here's a video of the litter. Blueish Green is our boy! His brother (yellow) has his ears in a side-ways slightly up position. So I'm excited that he MAY have his ears up (But expect them to fall over repeatedly and not stand until they're good and ready to). Male German Shepherd pups - YouTube I've been preparing some frozen ice cubes for the teething little devil, by adding some plain beef, chicken, and pork stock (with no spices). To add a bit of zing and make them even more appetizing for him to gnaw on. The cats are jealous but when given an ice cube were like "you expect me to eat this...what is WRONG with you human?" |
Hi and welcome from an Islander-at-heart! Where on the Island are you? I've lived in the Comox area, then Victoria for a number of years, and really miss the place.
Who is the breeder of your pup? I hope you are planning on a LOT of hikes and outside exercise time, having picked the most energetic pup. Looks like a littler of showlines? Post pics and updates when he comes home. :) |
We live in Nanaimo.
German Shepherds That is our breeder. I don't understand the titles fully (sadly I don't read them well). She is from the mainland (Maple Ridge). I work part time so I'm going to be walking the dog everywhere, especially since we're from Alberta and much prefer the mild weather out here. We live by a great park and once he's got all the shots he needs to go to that park we'll be there daily. We decided on the most energetic pup to be able to keep up with us. I will be posting an ablum worth of photos once we've got him. |
