My Old Soul pup

I have only had her for two weeks,She is 4 mo old named her Grace she was confiscated from a marijuana growers home and put in shelter. Grace is so balanced. I,ve never met such a calm and relaxed puppy. There is no out of contro chomping, or finger-biting. She does a great deal of observing, sitting perfectly still with her mouth closed, brow furrowed and eyes intent. What kind of old soul dog is this? Gracie will sit and watch us, my old Lab Mia, my husband and myself, her dark eyes taking it all in. She rarely needs behavioural corrections, and when given, they are followed and learned almost immediately. It's as though she she knows she was rescued, although I know she can't understand that. Can she? Some spiritual beliefs involve people having second chances at life, getting another chance to do life better, those that do have innate knowledge, peace and understanding and are called " old souls" . I can't be sure but I believe Grace is one of these old soul dogs. She has brought tranquility and balance to our pack. Lucky me

maybe she's just used to a "stoned" atmosphere?????

Yeah, lucky you! Some pups are like that. My older male (and my first GSD) was just like yours: a perfect little dog. He was fully house trained by the time he was 12 weeks old. Never a single accident in the house. Got along well with cats, never chewed on anything, obedience training him was pure delight - he just KNEW it all, and acted like a grown up dog from day one. No wonder I formed such a special bond with him.

But stupid me, I decided that ALL puppies are like that. So when I brought home a little fuzzy girl eight month ago, I was up for a rude awakening. She turned out to be a little terror, unruly furry tornado with sharp teeth, made my life absolute ****...which made me appreciate my other dog even more. Only then I realized how unusual he was as puppy. I love them both to death, but my memories of their childhood are on the opposite sides of the spectrum. I thoroughly enjoyed his puppy times, wished he would never grow up. With the girl, I am counting days and hours until she matures and knock off all this crazy puppy nonsense. :D
Can't tell you how many times during these last eight months I mumbled to myself "never, ever, ever I will raise another puppy, again." Yep, she was THAT bad.

So, enjoy your special baby, puppies like yours are rare, and I bet you two are going to form a long-lasting relationship and a very strong bond. Dogs like this make you perceive and treat them like if they were human...which they kind of are, considering how they feel us, love us and interact with us. :)

My sweet Kya has always been like that. From the day I brought her home to now at 12.5 years old there was always something calm and collected about her. She is very serious and is one the most in tuned dogs I've ever had. Enjoy it!
