Prospective GSD owner from Florida!

I have had GSD's growing up and have always loved them. Question.. my family has just moved to a neighborhood near a state park. We have at least one black bear that roams the neighborhood and comes into our yard. Would a GSD help keep the bear away, protect my kids if they were nearby? Thank you

Welcome, I do not know how much of a deterrent a dog of any kind would be to a bear. If you decide to get a new baby be sure to share it with us.
