Hello from British Columbia!
Hi there,
I just thought I would join a breed specific forum even though my GSD is a mix. I adopted Remy when I was 17, and had no clue what I was in for. A friend of my dad's had just adopted a dog from the SPCA when 2 weeks after they got her (after being "confirmed" spayed) she had 9 puppies in their coat closet. Remy is now almost 4 (her birthday is Sunday) and she is my perfect dog. She's high energy, high prey drive, and a huge goof. Not to say there aren't struggles though, we have some intense leash reactivity that we are working on. I work in the bush 4 months of the year and Remy gets that opportunity to be a wild child and runs 12-16 hours a day while I work. As you can see, she definitely is GSD but we think there is some lab and rottie on her mother's side (even though it doesn't show as much in her). She is an odd shape as well with a very deep chest, pronounced hip and spine. She also has an AFRO. I'm not kidding, it's not just a wave, it is full blown curls. I know that there is a blood line that has a curl to the coat and is a fault, but with a mix you never know what will pop out  In this video you can really see her curls: And here are some photos of her.
