Think I got the right dog?

In December, 2012, DH and I adopted a GSD from local city animal services. The paperwork says a neutered, 7 month old, black and tan. I have an uncut, 1 1/2 - 2 year old, black and silver male GSD.

Meet Oscar.

nice, oscar seems pretty alert in the last pic...my dutch is truly amazing me...gotta love the breed

I don't know if you got the right dog. How long did it take you to notice he wasn't neutered? LOL! I'm confused, though, as your signature date says July and you got him in Dec.?

Oops. I didn't even notice the error. Yes, Dec 7 is correct haha.

I was very tired when I wrote that hahaha.

Um, about 2 days. He is terrified of people, keeping tail tucked and crouched along the floor, belly scurrying from corner to corner to avoid us. I noticed he had a dangley pair when my husband was tired of a certain reaction (freezing in place and not moving despite being asked) so had stood him up on his back legs and walked him across the living room.

We're still building confidence.

This is from the day he came home, after he was drugged out from under the passenger side dashboard of my husbands truck. He tried crawling under my car which you can see behind him. We really have had a huge improvement, although every day is an improvement. We haven't had any step backwards in a couple weeks thankfully.

He is the dog we picked out. I am just ever amused how little the paper work doesn't describe him.

He is a beauty!

We got a cat once that was not neutered like the shelter said he was. He was a Persian so we didn't notice right away <oops>

Somebody was napping when they should have been snipping. I assume you wanted a neutered dog, so I would have taken him back for the procedure.

I would be concerned that if they messed up on the paperwork and released a dog that wasnt altered, perhaps your new pup hasn't had any vet work yet. No shots, HW positive, etc. I think I'd contact the City Shelter.

Congrats on a great looking GSD, glad to hear he's coming out of his shell a bit and enjoying being a dog.
