:help:
Would anyone be able to tell me the ideal weight for my 3 month female? Shes a very picky eater and i am just trying to find out what she should weigh.
Thankyou.
The best way to tell the ideal weight for a particular puppy is to look at her condition. If you can easily feel her ribs, you can see the last one or two, if there's a nice tuck up at the abdomen when viewed from the side, and a "waist" when viewed from above, then she's at the ideal weight.
I don't remember what any of my puppies weighed at 3 months old, but Dena and Keefer were around 18/19 pounds at 9 weeks old, and Halo was 11-1/2 pounds at 9 weeks old. Even though that's a pretty big discrepancy, those were very appropriate weights for their sizes at the time. Halo is a smaller female, her adult weight is about 60 pounds, so she was also smaller at every stage of development than Dena was, who topped out in the 70/72 pound range as an adult.
