Hi all,
This is Sascha. I just adopted him yesterday. So far he's been a very good puppy but we'll see how he acts when he's more used to me. I took him straight to PetSmart and they gave him his first round of shots and said he's in very good health, which I was happy about. The next thing on the list will be some professional obedience training. The people I adopted him from said he's about 14 weeks old (born Oct. 15, 2012) and that he was pure bred. They didn't have papers so maybe some folks on here can give me some opinions on whether he is or not. Either way he's adorable and I'm very happy with him so far. Looking forward to learning a lot here! John and Sascha ![]() ![]()

He's stunning and looks purebred to me too!
Make sure you can read up on the links at -->Welcome to the GSD/FAQ's for the first time owner - German Shepherd Dog Forums and find a good dog club/class to really start off right! I love puppy classes but they may be harder to find.

Thanks everyone! He got a lot of attention at PetSmart today. Lots of comments about how big he's going to be based on his mammoth paws.
Maggie - Yes, training is a must! There is a place in town called Pet Athletic Club (fullcontrolk9.com) that has great reviews. It's not cheap but I think it will be worth it. We're going for a free demonstration/consultation on Wednesday. I've wanted a GSD for a LONG time and I'm going to do it right! The good news is he already sleeps in his crate with the door open and is going potty outside and making noise when he has to go. Now if I could just get him over his fear of going down the porch steps... I knew it would happen but people are already confusing him for a girl b/c he's named Sascha. According to my research Sascha is a German variant of Sasha. It's a unisex name used mostly by males in Europe. It means protector of mankind!
