First time GSD owner

Hi everyone, My name is Heather and I will become a first time GSD owner to an 8 week old pup tomorrow morning! Ive already named her Madison and ofcourse she is just absolutely gorgeous!

My Gramps (deceased) used to breed GSDs when I was a child and growing up there was always reasons not to have a large dog. Now at the age of 45 Im in a position to give Madison the focus and commitment she needs.

I just joined the forum today but Ive spent the best part of two weeks visiting already, trying to learn as much as I can from your experiences with GSDs - still tons to read so I greatly welcome and appreciate all advise and tips. At the moment its all about the puppy months and early training... sooo much to take in! hehe

I have a 15 yr old Yorkie (will take that socialisation verrrry slowly

) and I just cant remember the puppy stage anymore - maybe I blocked it out!

Anyhoo, just wanted to introduce myself and Madison and say Hi.

I also have a yorkie who wanted nothing to do with my shepard when we got her. The shepard wants to play with the yorkie of course though. After 9 months they have a bit of an understanding now.

Im getting really excited lol - feel like a big kid again.

I have been reading non-stop and watching training videos hehe - Dont want to let her down.
