Hi everyone!
My name is Kate, and l hope to soon be bringing home my first GSD pup. My boyfriend and I have been researching dogs to figure out which is best for us and we both agree on german shepherds. I have always been a dog lover and have researched many large breeds. We have both owned family dogs when we lived with parents. So we have decided that now is a great time for us to finally add to our family with the puppy we have wanted for a long time. It works out time wise with one of us always being home. He works days and I work nights. We are both VERY active and love outdoor activities and want to share that with a GSD pup. I guess the point is that after doing tons of research and reading about the breed on all these posts I have some apprehensive feelings that suprised me because we were SO confident about getting a GSD. We live in an apartment but we have a huge back yard and permission from our landlord to get a large breed dog. Will a GSD be okay an in apartment? and with a cat? Also, we will eventually be moving but we have dicussed that we have to be willing to pay extra or search longer when moving because giving up our dog is NOT an option to me or him. Is it really as hard as people make it seem to find places to live with large breed dogs? And lasty, should I be feeling as put off to the breed as i am after reading so many posts? We want a dog that we can share our life with and hope that its a german shepherd. So I guess im just looking for a little support :-) Thanks for reading! -Kate |

Welcome Aboard!! Don't let all the posts scare you. You will love the GSD breed. Just make sure you socialize it allot, Exercise it allot, and love it allot. I am not saying it will be a piece of cake, no animals are a piece of cake and I think you will be very happy on how loyal and loving this breed is. It should be no problem raising your new pup in an apartment, with a big back yard to play in. Good luck to you and I can't wait to see some pictures of your new family member!

Our's is a sweetheart, there are all kinds of advice on selecting your breeder. The one thing that really impressed us was meeting both parents. They were alert, calm and very accepting of us as guests. Tess is friendlier than the breed standard, but I would prefer her this way than aggressive or nervous. Everyone that meets her are impressed with her manners and how smart she is. Just take your time it's hard to be swept off your feet once you see puppies.
