I'm so sorry for your loss.
Can I ask if she was able to see your husband after he passed or is she waiting for him to come back. I feel very strongly about letting my dogs see even sniff my body when I go, I don't want them to wait for me. The reason I feel this way is when my husbands horse passed, I had to make arrangements, when I got back home as I walked to the barn my horse got up and came to meet me and whinnied. My neighbor said that he laid by Dixie all morning. I put him in the barn, but didn't close the door, once again he gave out a whinny as they took her away. I had had other stable mates move or leave the property and he would run and cry and call out for them. This time it was different, he understood she was gone. Once again I am so sorry for the loss of your husband.

Sorry for your loss. When my mom passed away, we allowed the dog to get up next to her, smell her, and kiss her. She was my mom's dog and has done very well since my mom passed. Maybe saying good bye was a good thing.
