I adopted an older Sch3 female. I had her for 2 years and then her spine went. I had to put her down. I was devastated!
However, I went right out and bought a "working" Shepherd puppy and boy was I in for it! I've had big dogs most of my life, but never a "working" dog. I had shredded arms for months! I read every Schutzhund training book I could find, so I couldn't discipline her for biting, or shredding what she could get hold of, as it was up to ME to control her and her environment. She is now 6 and a perfect dog (well, almost LOL). She minds and lives to please me. Very easy to train and teach new things. I didn't bond with her until she was about a year old, in fact I almost took her back to the breeder, several times. Now, you could not buy her from me, and I would do anything to protect her. I'm thinking I may need another working pup now. LOL This one to take thru Schutzhund. Theresa Greene Pita (Christmas Belle Von Knighten Haus) |
