I will be a new GSD puppy mom on the 27th of December. Had a shepherd as a child (loved him!). Rescued a white baby girl (4yrs at the time) and found out quickly what shepherds where all about
![]() Angel, came with some issues since she was a breeding dog and had very little human interaction. I had to seek advice and find ways to make her able to be safe in my home. She had separation anxiety and various medical issues that we learned about her first week with us. When we had to let her go 18months ago, I swore I would never get another shepherd, because it would be to much. The past 6months my husband and I have been talking about getting another (dog in general) and when he said he really missed Angel and thought we should get another shepherd I cried for days. I guess I felt I would be a traitor to her after all she had given me. Lots of heartache the first year, but she was an incredible, beautiful, loving, loyal girl & I miss her. When someone told us a few weeks ago about a breeder with tan & blacks and solid blacks, my husband called and started asking a thousand questions. We have both been online looking up puppy care, puppy proofing the house, figuring out schedules and crazy as it sounds .. Watching YouTube videos of puppy training and learning german commands I know this is going to be a very busy first year and have to be thankful for all Angel gave me! Even though she was (at least! 4) when I got her, the 9years with her has shown me the importance of making sure this pup is well socialized, engaged and trained right. I will be going to find the forum for new pups because I do have some questions specifically about German shepherd pups & would welcome advice from actual owners. Glad I found this site!

Congratulations on the new furry family member just in time for the holidays. Lots of people here will be ready with any advice you seek. My advice for now is take lots of pictures, then post them here. Don't worry about your girl Angel because she is watching from the other side of the Rainbow Bridge and wishing the best for you. She will be happy to see you with another GSD and be comforted in knowing she was such a good girl that you got another GSD. Have fun, love lots, and play lots.

I sometimes think each dog leaves us so we can make room in our hearts for another.
Angel must have been the best friend. Welcome to you and congrats on the new "baby"!
