Just spent like 20 minutes typing out a long post only to have the iPhone reload page and lost it all.
Love when that happens huh? Hi I'm Nick. Found this page while googling about teaching an old dog how to swim. I figure since my girl is getting on in years, Plus getting fat from me working so much and no one else in the house "bothering" to walk her, I'm going to start jogging/running with her, along with hiking and swimming. There's a funny story about swimming ill share if anyone cares to hear it. Her name is Beauty. She's 12 years old, a Shepard/Chow-Chow mix, and too smart for her own good. She's very protective of us, and don't have to worry about her off the leash. If she gets out, she'll chill in the front yard until we get home. I just need to retrain her, as no one but me has ever "bothered" to train her. She knows sit, but will only sit while playing catch, or if she knows you have a treat, and repeat "sit" like 3 times. Anyways here is a pic of her, she's obviously not happy about me taking a picture while she's half asleep, but i think it reflects her smart-arse personality. Glad I found this forum, lots of good lookin pooches here! ![]() Oh, and she seems to prefer my sisters shih-tzu 's bed over her own huge bed, not sure why. I'd like for her to sleep on my waterbed with me, as I'm sure the heated waterbed would be good for her, but I don't have a protective water mattress pad, don't want to wake up in a puddle, and she has never really been one for sleeping on a bed. (But I have caught her asleep on my sisters bed after she left for school, and on the couch. So I dunno. ) I know it sounds like she's "elderly" and is frail, but she's far from it. Sometimes I swear she's still 6 months old. More energy than my best friends pure bred blue nosed pitbull (most sweetest dog! I've fallen asleep on his couch and woken up with a lap full, and once or twice a chest full, of snoring dog.) Last edited by Ozziesironmanoffroad; 12-01-2012 at 01:44 AM. |

Sweet girl!
Be careful starting a fitness program for both of you.. Though if you get her fit and lean she may do amazingly well.. :-)
