Hi, Maverick & I are new to the site. Maverick is my 4 yr old black and tan GSD,I was there to witness the birthplace of the entire litter, which ended up 4 female & 4 male. I spent the next 6 wks going back and forth between 2 of the black male pups. I finally choosemy boy & brought him home at 7 wks. It has been a grand adventure from limping randomly on each leg starting at about 12 wks until about 1 1/2 yrs- Turned out the dad dog had history of bone lesions which passed along to most of the pups, Mav has outgrown this though it may become a issue in old age. He also tripped up chasing a jack rabbit last summer & ended up with a twist fracture to his front left elbow, 2 surgeries a plate& 9 screws later he's back to himself again. Most recently he devolped allergies to the grass and or weeds probably in the fields where we walk and ended up with a shot for relief , the vet said it may or may not reappear. My biggest worry is in January of this yr it was determined that he has Pannus, He learned within the first week "all the way" which is flat on his side so I can put the drops in his eyes, he is a pro at this now. Anyway that is a short version of our life together so far. I welcome any feed back on the pannus issue and making his quality of life the best that I can when or if he goes blind from this.
Thank you, Maverick & His mom |

Hello and Welcome to you and to your boy Maverick. There is probably some threads on here dealing with Pannus, just type them in the search.
Hope that your boy's bad luck is all behind him, sounds like he has had his share. Please share pictures with us when you can, we love pics on here.

Welcome from another Coloradan!Sounds like you and Maverick have come a long way so far. I can't offer any advice on the Pannus, but I'm sure you'll get a lot of invaluable advice from others on the board. I would suggest you post another thread asking for advice on it so others can see your post about it. And yes, we require pictures!!!

Hi -
I was wondering if you can tell me how your dog is doing since he got Pannus? Our 5 year old Shepherd got diagosised with it today and was put on Optimmune 0.2% Opth Oint 3.5g about 1/8 of an inch 2x a day in each eye. We are also putting her on Yucca Intensive drops along with a grain free and raw diet. Please let me know how your pooch is doing and if you can please give me any advise it centrally would be appreciated. Kind regards from Littleton CO Tami |
