Thank you ALL for the warm welcome!
![]() It's so nice to see some fellow Michiganders here as well (even if you are all trolls ).onyx--yeah, the International bridge can be annoying, to say the least! I am originally from Ontario, Canada. Came over here to go to college, met my husband, and stayed! I know there are a few classes available across the border, but getting over there would take me at least an hour on a good day. I live about a half an hour from the bridge...Kailouie--The closest trainer/classes I could find were in Petoskey. A little far for me to go, especially in the winter...I love living in a rural area--it's great in the summer, but winters can get a little isolated. glinny--HA! I wondered if anyone would pick up on his name! Yes, as a matter of fact my husband and I have 2 Harleys, a '72 FLH, and an '81 FXS--we are classic Harley nuts, hence the name of our pup! ![]() I think the crazy-ear stage Shovel is going through is adorable--hopefully those ears will stand up again (they were up beautifully a few days ago!!), but I am patient, and I seem to remember that my last GS pup was around 6 months old before his ears stood up. Oh dear, gotta go, Shovel is landsharking.... . |

Oh, great! I'll check the Petoskey one out, it's closer than the one I was looking at in Traverse City. Yea, that's pretty far from the UP though. I wish you good luck. I love the rural living too, even though I'm pretty new to it.

Kailouie--Here's a link to the place I found in Petoskey:
Northwoods Dog Training She looked pretty decent, and had some really good reviews so I was almost considering it (despite the distance), but when looking under the 'services' section of her website saw that she endorsed so-called "animal communicators". Just read it, and the transcript of "Midnight's Reading" that follows . For me this was a deal-breaker. For others, perhaps not.Hopefully I'll be able to find something by the time Shovel is 6 months old or so, until then I'll just keep plugging along myself (not without all of the great info on this forum, of course!) ![]() . |

Looks like dog training would be a lucrative business up there! Not much competition.
fishernut, are you familiar with the Lazy S ranch(along 75)? I painted the pasture fences this Summer there, fun times! |
