looking for a good breeder in illinois

I'm a novice looking for recommendations for a good breeder in illinois where I can get a female GSD puppy. Sadly we just lost a dog and my daughter is sad but ready to make a new pet friend. Any helpful recommendations?

Are you looking for a working line GSD or a showline GSD pup?

Showlines are mainly black/reds, black/tans and blacks.

Working lines are mainly blacks, bicolors and sables.

So many different GSD lines, it's almost like there are multiple breeds within the breed. What exactly were you looking for?

Vom gildaf german shepherds in southern wisconsin! (im very biased because she has amazing lines, a little of everything.) they are 1500 but i know she could get so much more for the quality. Me and her have become friends now. Look up g litter on her site and thats where gem is

Keeps very updated with me which is what i like

Huerta Hof in Illinois breeds German Showlines. Beautiful dogs! Robin is on this board.

Wow, lots of quick responses, thanks. I'm about 30 miles west of chicago. I am looking for a good companion dog which I will train but am unlikely to show. In that case i'm not sure that the line type is critical if the temperment is good. true? The dog will live with my 15 year old daughter, my college age son (when he's around) and I. We have a kennel and a 2 acre yard where she could get plenty of excercise, but of course she will live in the house. We had a GSD who just was put down after struggling with degenerative mylopathy. I'd mostly like to find a good breeder where i can find little history of this or hip displasia cause it hard to say goodbye.

Talk to Robin Huerta of Huerta Hof. She's in Freeport, IL. Several members on here have Huerta Hof dogs and all have excellent things to say about their dogs. I have a Huerta Hof boy and he's everything I could ever want in a dog. I show him and do Schutzhund with him, BUT he could be just as happy as an active, companion dog. Fantastic temperament, beautiful structure, excellent on and off switch, perfect with children/crowds, strong nerves, protective, highly intelligent, food/ball motivated, vigilant, and eager to please.

why do breeders talk a good game about training and titling and say all their breeding dogs will be titled in Schutzhund, yet not a single breeding dog has a title to speak of and puppies are available?
