Greetings to all, i'm new to the site and own a male GSD 4ys of age.
Well at least i am led to believe he is a GSD possibly as i have no papers.
He is called Toby, had him for 1 1/2 yrs as previous owners didn't have the time to give him the care he needed.
I've had many dogs whilst growing up but never a GSD, Toby is the first dog ive had myself as an adult and i now love this breed, loyal, fun, energetic and friendly!
I signed up here as i want to learn more about him and the breed.
Is it normal for there coats to get darker as they mature? ho once had a very light face witch has slowly got black in most places.

Welcome Kevin! I think it's normal for the coats to darken

Welcome!
What color is your GSD? Sables will frequently fade in color and then have the color come back as they age. Many of the black and reds will lighten as they get older. Color changes are common

He is black and tan, at age 2 1/2 his face was very tan around the eyes with his snout being black, over the last yr virtually his full face has turned black, i assumed it was as he matured.
