Hello
Hi Everyone,
I just got a GSD puppy for Christmas (Rocco). I have not had a dog since I was a child, and I didn't know what I was doing then either. I have three cats now. I have had cats all my life and can tell you anything about cats; but not dogs. I'm really excited about my puppy and eager to learn all about the GSD. I know very little about them, but have always loved the breed. I'm in love with my Rocco. I look forward to chatting with you all.

Welcome to the forum! Has your puppy been to the vet for his first checkup yet? How old is he? Have you found a good puppy class to get involved with?

Hi Emoore!
Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the questions. Rocco is now 13 1/2 weeks and I got him at 10 weeks. He has been to the vet and is on schedule with his vaccinations (the breeder had already started him). The vet says he looks good (healthy). He's registered with the AKC and has had his chip inserted (even though we don't leave him outside alone). We started him on the puppy training classes at PetSmart. This is his third week. He's very smart and is learning fast; but doesn't always obey. He is very rambunctious and stubborn. He also bites a lot and wants to chase the cats. I'm hoping its just puppy behavior and it will improve. Any thoughts? Oh, and I'll post some more pictures as soon as I can. I don't have access to them right now.

None of them always obey at that age.
 The biting a lot is typical German Shepherd puppy, as is wanting to chase the cats. Check out the puppy biting threads in the "training our puppy" section for ideas.

Welcome - Welcome~!
My girl is 16wks now and gives me a run for my money! Especially on a full-moon, : ) Amazing how intelligent they are at such a young age. This forum is full of excellent information and I would be lost without it! Looking forward to seeing more pictures of your boy- he's beautiful! Suzie
