Default Shalom from Israel

Hello GSD forum I just relocated from Los Angeles to Israel... Born and raised in Montana though :P Just wanted to say "hi" and introduce myself. I am new to GSDs, have had Dobermans my whole life, and wanted to educate myself as much as I can on the breed before I consider getting a GSD. I am partial to the solid black color but of course want to learn as much as I can about training, genetics, pedigrees, breeders, health concerns and everything else.

My current Doberman, Doc Holliday, I began training for SAR but he has Wobbler's syndrome and after he fell quite severely during a training session, I had to retire him. SAR would definitely be something I would consider doing with my GSD pup as I enjoyed it nearly as much as my dog did! I'm not really interested in doing schutzhund.

I see a lot of GSDs in Israel but don't know if there are any reputable breeders in the country. Maybe this forum can help point me in the right direction if there are.

I travel between Israel and the United States, so getting a pup from a good breeder in the US definitely isn't out of the question. I will of course educate myself and wait though. I know that rash decisions usually don't end well

So anyway... I am here to educate myself and learn from the knowledgeable. I will probably ask noob questions though, so I ask for forgiveness in advance.

Welcome! I'm also from Israel

There are many reputable breeders in Israel with decades of experience, You'll just have to pick one.

Hello! Beautiful country you live in! Where in Israel are you located? My father was working there for a year and we got to go visit. Golan Heights was by far my favorite area.

Shalom ! Welcome to the board. I envy you being in Israel, what a neat place to live.

I thought I wanted a black and tan color, or a black, , but the litter we saw had either the runt or the alpha male as the two black and tans. The rest of the litter was sable coats, so I thought I would try something different. We have been very pleased with her color, and we get the "wow, such a pretty dog" everywhere we go.
The only problem is with all the silver, some non-dog people think she looks like a wolf-hybrid!
