I just joined the forum today. It was prompted because I have been applying different places for a rescue, and also looking around on Petfinder. I found a nice looking GSD at the county shelter in Lisbon, OH and wonder if anyone is close to there and can check him out. If he is a good option, I could drive up there in the next couple of days, 2.5 hrs from here. Petfinder Adoptable Dog | German Shepherd Dog | Lisbon, OH | DASHER
He is supposedly scheduled to be euthanized, at least that is what the petfinder posting says. Briefly, I currently have one sort of white GSD adopted 2 1/2 yrs ago, and we lost our other GSD, Baruch at the beginning of Dec. He was 8 and had chronic spinal disease that we treated periodically with prednizone, muscle relaxants etc and crate rest. This time he lost his capacity to walk -- hind legs failed due to a significant disc herniation at L1 - L2. Ohio State vets were not encouraging about surgery because of too many pressure points on his spine. Meanwhile, I am looking around and wonder about this one in Lisbon, near Akron - Canton and Youngstown, if anyone is close by and can check it out and let me know. Thanks |
