Hi!!
I've finally gotten around to joining this forum. I like this place and have read some threads from time to time. I have goats, chickens, cats, kids & a red & black GSD named Fina, or more specifically Fina Vom Chandlerhaus who turned 6 not long ago. I am hoping to get some pups out of her although her heats are elusive and she's almost out of time! She's actually supposed to go meet her stud Monday & I'm very excited. Most of Fina's siblings are Shutzhund trained, cadaver dogs & such and Fina is just our household dog. We live out in the country so she stays busy playing with the kids & other animals. She's everything I wanted out of a GSD and plan on getting another GSD in 2012. I'm hoping she produces pups so that I can keep 1 of them but if all else fails I'll be buying a second one. (I'm not out to be a big time breeder just determined to experience this at least once.)Anyways, I'll see you on the forums! Len

Hello from Fayetteville! Your life sounds like mine! I have a GSD, Chickens, kids and horses!.. I am sure your dog is very beautiful! We would love to see pictures of your dog and the rest of the crew!
By the way, 6 years old is getting up there for breeding. I think it would be less risky for your girl, just to focus finding another pup from a reputable breeder in the area. If you are interested in a working line, I know of a great breeder not to far from you that will have several litters to choose from next year. If you are interested, I will pm you her information. Welcome to the board! Rob |

@robk Years ago I planned on drawing the line right age 6, but after careful consideration and reading threads I believe there are dogs done at 5.5 and other done at 7.5.. This particular dog is completely healthy and going strong like she's 4yrs old. My breeder & vet have spent some time with her & agree. I intended on doing this sooner, but missed heats due to vacations and such (not that this has influenced my decisions). That all being said, she's having a very good heat and after much trial and error and progesterone tests over the years I believe I've got her pinpointed as being ready Monday. I definitely understand the risks involved and appreciate the concern and believe me, I've done my homework.
I will upload some pics here in a few! Congrats on the horses! That is great. I moved to an area outside of city limits that allows them and that may just happen one day..
