Default Hello from Us in Sunny AZ :)

Last Saturday (12/03/2011) I adopted a beautiful German Shepherd female from the e-list at the pound. Her original pound picture:

I cannot believe they were going to put her down. Roxie has been with us a week now, took her to the vet, walk her daily, and love having her. I had a GSD mix who we lost to Valley Fever this summer, and although I could never replace that sweet girl, having Roxie here helps.

Besides Roxie, we have Rocko - a deerhead style Chihuahua. He looks like a fawn:

We live in a nice little house near Phoenix, AZ. We've got a pool in the backyard I'm dying to use again and a park across the street. Life is good!

ohmygosh, what a beautiful girl you have (and the chi is cute too). hard to believe some of the absolutely wonderful dogs who wind up needing someone like you to come along and save them. thank you so much for helping this girl, i know you will be rewarded many times over in the joy she brings you.

so sorry about the girl you lost, but so glad you know it's not about replacing her but about having the opportunity to know and love another one.

ah, phoenix, i have a famous friend who lives (sometimes) in phoenix. beautiful, beautiful place. so spiritual. take care, post new pictures, welcome to the board!

thank you for helping such a sweet girl! i can't wait to see pics of her being happy and romping all around her new home. that picture is truly sad, but it's good to know she won't ever have that look on her face again now that she's found a loving home.

ps. i'm jealous of your pool...i would kill to have a pool for my dog!

Default Hi

I couldn't believe it either....Friday night this rescue sent me the e-list dogs (those to be put down at 5:00AM the next day) and when I saw her on it I couldn't take it. I found a rescue to get her off that list and a volunteer met me the next morning and signed her over to us.

Phoenix is pretty, but can be deadly to dogs. We have "Valley Fever" here, a fungus that gets in the lungs and can spread, can be contracted by humans or dogs. Most times it is treatable, but we found out too late.

Sadly, one of the main reasons I wanted a pool was for our other GSD girl. We took her boating & down to the lake frequently.

I'm hoping Roxie likes the pool this summer, but I love having it regardless
