I thought I would post a newbie thread to expedite my settling in here, and get to know a few folks in the process!
My small family and I live in the Northeast side of Houston, Texas. I have a daughter who turns four this month, and my wonderful husband who works hard to provide for us. On friday, we are going to meet (for the first time) the dog that we are hoping beyond hope will be the right match for our family. You see, we were looking for a GSD, as I grew up with them, and have a great affinity for the breed. We chose to go the route or rescue or rehoming, rather than buying a puppy from a breeder (though we have nothing against a reputable breeder!) After a long, tedious search, I was contacted by an amazing woman in Texas who was looking to find a good companion home for her 7 month old black sable GSD, Brenna. She originally bought Brenna to train her for Schutzhund (my apologies if I did not spell this right) but as it turns out, Brenna lacked the drive for the work. All Brenna wants to do is love on people, and please those around her, which is precisely what we were hunting for. I have been on correspondence with her current owner for a few weeks now, and we have developed a good understanding of one another, and ho this will work out. I have heard so many good things about Brenna, and I just know that she is going to be the dog that I have been searching for. I have hopes that Brenna will enjoy getting her CGC, and then possibly pass her TDI, but MOREOVER, I am really looking for a companion for myself and my daughter who can be here for us, and keep us good company while my husband is away. If all goes well, and I believe it will, we may even bring her home with us this friday. We have been told that if it does not work out for any reason, then we are welcome to bring her back. But I do not think that this is going to happen. From my emails back and forth with her owner, she sounds so ideal for us. I came here because, even if this doesn't work out, I want to be in a place here I can stay informed, and ask questions where needed, and get advice from knowledgeable and like minded folks. So, greetings!
