Howdy y'all, guess I should introduce us, especially with the attention the topic I already posted have gotten.
Members of this pack: A little about the human of the pack. I am a 40 year old male, single medically retired from an major airline of 18 years. I was a flight attendant and flew international. I am originally from Atlanta and live here now in my own home. I like movies, pc and console games, music, cooking, parks, camping, beaches, road trips, my pack, my pool, grilling out and my friends among other things. Always looking for new people to hang out with or with the boys. I have always had dogs, and they have been rescues mostly from shelters. I have fostered a number of dogs as over my life and found them all great homes. My previous dog was a Siberian Husky I had for 13 years, 4 months and 4 days. That was rough when I lost him. It will be year in 3 days that he left me for a better place where he could run and run and run all day again. Before him was Chief Mojo Rising, a registered German Shepherd from the pound in Fort Worth, TX. He lived to be 19 and half years. His last 5 yeas he lived with my parents in Georgia due to his arthritis and I was living in Minnesota. For the last 3 years of his life he was pretty much bald but still full of energy and I saw quite frequently. I would of rather him been with me but I had to do what was best for him and with the cold up there it would not work. Anyhow enough about my past, there has been a number of fosters and one other Siberian Husky, Baby Girl, who had a tragic accident. Bandit really missed her. Other members: Sheba Inu 15 months old, 23 lbs, They call me Kanji. Some Japanese word that is supposed to describe me after I bit his evil ex. I am mouthy, willful, full of energy, and I better get my way or else. I was surrendered to the human by my previous human family. I am not sure what i did but the kids pulled my tail and ears and like I said I am mouthy. I think I bit some of the little humans and I really do not mind humans...they are they bring me toys, food, water, treats, and take me outside when ever I want. I will tell you a lot more about me another time, since this is my adoptive brother spot light. I guess he will be okay...he is a new toy for me. Got to love that human how did he know what I wanted for Christmas. German Shepherd 11 months old, I was roaming free, hungry, hurt, on the interstate. I came running up to this human when he stopped, but I was very skiddish of him even though I ran up to him. Of course I was hurting too and bleeding a little bit. That did not stop him, he gave me some treats and spent about 45 minutes gaining a little trust from me. Finally I decided to get in his car, he had hold of my collar trying to help me into the back seat .... WOW OH WOW I have come up...a convertible mustang gt with the top down. I did try to bite him when he help me in, he did not know one of my bite wounds was right at my collar and hurt a lot. He just shrugged me off and firmly told me NO BITE and I stopped. He then had to help get my back in since I am disabled and have had a rear ball joint removed from my hip. We went on to his friends house who he was going to visit for the night. He had text them that he had picked up a hitchiker and would be there shortly. They all got a good laugh about that and his friends started calling me hitch. I had to sleep on the deck that night since his friends had 3 itty bitty yappie dogs and well I was just a stray. The human that picked me up kept checking on me. The next afternoon when I got back to this humans house in Atlanta, I got to meet my my now adoptive brother, who tried to attack me, and well is just kind of annoying now. He was very protective of his human. We got past that and is much better, he even shared his toys with me and brought me a chew bone to chew on and went and got him one too. I have only growled and snapped at the hyper dog twice but he touched one of my sore spots that the human keeps pouring stuff on. **** it he will not let me scratch them. I found out I like playing computer and console games. The human rearranged his bedroom for me and made his bed huge. It is my safe spot. I am no longer hungry I have all the food I could want. I get to go for walks many times a days. I hear I will get to go a doggie park up the road that no one uses and I will get to spend time at his mothers who has an 1 acre fenced in back yard. Yes he said I get to come inside her house too. He can even take me outside off the leash, I come when he calls me. He makes me mind and obey. I have to sit at the door to go outside. I am much better behaved then the "Hyper One" or the one called "NO" but I suppose he will start learning from me. I talk all the times, groans and grunts. I am going to be a mighty big dog when I grow up. I have already gained a little weight. Just because I am disabled does not mean I can't do anything. I do have a bit of an issue with the stairwell in the house but I am getting better. I may not win agility contests but at least I have food, a place to call home and will not get hit. Hopefully I will make some play friends here in Atlanta. Enough for now, we will check in later. Last edited by mtrai; 12-01-2011 at 08:09 PM. |

Wow already an update....
Me and the mutt named "NO" just bonded over someone walking through our yard. The one I call "NO" just does not have a bark to get attention from a distance, once I realize what the little one was barking at and I let in my deep loud mean bark, the person in my yard took off. Since then me and the little one have been playing non-stop. **** he is a fast agile one and will use furniture to block me...lol I just went over the furniture once I figure out what he was doing going from side to the other. The human was just rolling laughing at us. |

Hi everyone, been busy with Hitch and my Shiba. He is quickly regaining his confidence. He is very very protective of me and is stuck on my like glue. His various bite wounds are not infected and healing nicely.
This past weekend he went to the big dog park here and and is pretty non aggressive with other dogs, until he got himself a girlfriend. None of us have ever seen behavior like his with his "girlfriend." He held onto some fur on her back gently and just went where ever she led, not once trying to hump her. He would growl if other males came near her. So we left. Yes he has sugery on his ball joint, he gets around fine. He goes up and down my stairs in my house every time I do. In fact both of them now. My shiba is becoming a model dog now lol. They now play, my Shiba plays very rough but when either of them play just a bit too hard they let the other know. They lay pretty close together now. My shiba cleans Hitch. I also walk him up and down my front yard which is a very steep hill. I have large dog park very close to my house that no one ever uses. So I do have a good place to take him/ them. The shiba has a way to go with some of his aggression. The food aggression is almost gone. Hitch will go to his dog bowl and get a huge mouthful of food and bring it out and drop it all over the floor and they will both eat it. Hitch is not scared of loud noises, or things like that however he terrified of squeaky toys. And he remembers them. I have had to take them all up. He found himself a new toy outside, a small block of wood. OMG lol. When I take them out, he goes out in my back yard without a leash, no issues, if it takes me a minute longer to get my shiba out he waits at the door, and will only go the part of the yard I go to. Both dogs act dominant at times and other time submissive with each other. My Shiba is now submissive with me and finally accepts me as the pack leader. He is still independent though. Oh and hitch insists on going with me every time I go to get in my car. He will shoot by me into the garage if I open the door and wait at the car door. All in all he is doing so much better, he is not all skin and bones now. Putting on some muscle. |

what a lovely post. i am so happy that hitch is doing so well. thank you AGAIN for helping this sweet soul.
note from the worry-wart...be so careful with the block of wood, their jaws are so strong and wood splinters. and long time ago i used to let my dogs chew branches that fell from trees, then i learned there is something in fresh wood that gives the dogs mucous-y diarrhea. ugh. so careful with branches. okee-dokee, that's all from the worry-wart, lol.

OPPS...now I know...about yesterday morning downstairs. The wood block is now gone. 3 Big piles of the goos...could not figure it out. Since he makes sure I know when he needs to go out. At least it was downstairs on my ceramic tiled floor, made clean up so much easier.
