Default Howdy from Alberta....

Hi,

I'm Iain. My wife and I recently adopted a 12wk rescue-pup and are loving her to bits. I think we have found a perfect mountain companion!

Who could ever leave these eyes in a bag by the side of a reserve??

Underweight when we got her....

She's 5months now and doing great....

I've owned dogs before, but never a GSD, and the advice on here has been a great help, so thank-you!

How sad she was left in a bag....
How wonderful it appears she will never know that kind of life again
She is beautiful by the way...and welcome to the forum. Even after owning a GSD for 9 years, I still learn new things on here often.

Thanks everyone! Her name is Java.

She and her two "sisters" were all named on a coffee theme by the SPCA... Java, Mocha, Coco.... My wife works in a coffee shop, so the name stuck!

Trying to figure out her background a little. Her sisters showed a lot more crossed breeding, as is typical with dogs from the reserve (a lot of free-roaming, free breeding going on). But Java looks more and more pure GSD every day.

Rumour has it the reserve purchased pure-bred working line GSD a number of years ago to try and manage the Coyotes there, so she could be close to those guys.

Regardless, she has been a joy so far..... A dream to housebreak, crate train and socialize, we have good recall, loves fetch, is absorbing training as fast as we can throw it at her..... Just waiting for her to start testing the boundries!!

She is beautiful and what a difference a little time and love can make. Congrats on the new addition and may you have many many happy years to come with her

Hope the weather in your neck of the words is being kind to you! It's been relatively mild here thus far, although we have a decent amount of snow already!
