I do have to ask though, who is the puppy for and why for christmas? If the puppy is for YOU and plan to fully commit then yay! if the puppy is for someone else, i actually hope they know and agree to it and are able to commit responsibly. This breed is not for the faint of heart and though I very much disagree with Christmas pets because they're most likely to be discarded as they are usually given to children who dont want the responsibility and the excitement wears off or people who cant be responsible enough to take care of the dog the way they need to be taken care of. i hope that makes sense. I'm not trying to be mean or discouraging, just want to make sure the puppy isnt for the wrong reasons ya know? Also keep in mind, rescues DO have puppies and young dogs often so please dont dismiss them.

I would never ever release a pup around the Christmas season . In the past litters that just happened to be available and the right age to go , were held over at my house till after New Years . The family is invited over every day , all day if they choose , to visit with their pup before , anytime after the pups are 5-6 weeks .
They understand and appreciate why the pup stays with me and secretly it is a bit of a relief with all the comings and goings and stress and mess and drama for them not to have another demand to attend to . Introduce the pup to a sane routine . Shelters will not release either . In my area you can adopt and they will give you a card with pictures or a video of the dog . They are already posting notices on the entry of one shelter advising of this policy. Carmen Carmspack Working German Shepherd Dogs |
