Default Hello from UK

Hello
Very nice to join your super website. I live in Hertfordshire UK and was searching the web for an answer as to why my GSD Zeus has suddenly decided that he wants to go sit in the gardenafter midnight regardless of the weather. I came across your website and just had to join. I don't know if anyone reading this has any ideas as to why Zeus has become nocturnal. He is nine. We got him from a rescue centre seven years ago. An American serviceman had brought him in. This is the first time that he has behaved like this, Thought it might be the full moon but he crys to go out every night at about 2am. Thought he might have some wolf in him?
Thanks for any advice

Welcome! I'm originally from Harrow Middx - came to the US in 1965. Hope you will enjoy being a member here - for the most part it's a very nice forum with lots of useful advice.....

I have never heard of a dog doing what yours is doing, unless it's an older guy with incontinence who can't make it through the night. I have had that happen - but then he/she always wanted to come back in right away. Perhaps there are some interesting critters roaming around your neighborhood in the wee hours! Unless he has a physical need to go outside, I would ignore his demands to be let out - unless of course you want to be in the position of having your sleep disturbed every night for the forseeable future, because it sounds like it's becoming a habit!

Hi Susan,

Thanks so much for your reply. Had great Italian friends, years ago, who lived in Kenton which I believe is near Harrow. Yes, I think that it may be something to do with Zeus wanting more "action" than just laying on the fireside mat at night. As with all problems last night was the first night for a week that he didn't cry to go out - well I don't think that he did, unless I was so tired from being woken up each night that I didn't hear him!
Anyway through this problem I have joined a great website. Getting used to the options so hope this reaches you. Thanks again. Tony

Hi RobK,

Thanks so much for your reply. You could well be right!!!. Zeus has been "doctored" but I am sure that he doesn't fully appreciate that and still has an interest in the "ladys". However I don't think that I will be staying up with him to check!!!
Thanks again
Tony

Hi Abby
Thanks so much for your message and welcome. Not sure that I am pushing the right buttons so could you let me know if you receive this!
PS Love Black & Tan GSDs. We had one - Claude for eight years from the age of five - really was my best friend ever - still miss him loads.
Regards
Tony

Your replies are getting through! You can also use the Personal Message -PM - option if you want to contact a member privately: just click on the screen name and the option will be displayed. (And yes, Kenton is about a mile and a half down the road....Google Earth is great for revisiting the places I knew growing up!!)

Pleased to hear you are getting some shut eye - perhaps a little more exercise during the day will tire him out to the point where he sleeps through the night also - that includes mental exercise too, keep up the OB work......
