We have black Bears, Wolves, Moose, and Mountian Lions in the area, as the national forest, The Gogomain Swamp connects to the state land as well. Just glad she didn't get eaten.
Should call her Lucky! Because she certainly is to find her way to your family!
When you travel on I-75 near 10 mile south of the city, look at the horse farm (Lazy S ranch) on the east side, I painted the fences

what a great story! I believe in 'fate', she will teach you so much about what it's like to have the love of a dog

Thanks for giving Megan a forever home. My bet is she will return the favor many times. By the way I think you were a dog person and just didnt know it.

It sounds like Meagan chose you! She must have sensed that a warm-hearted family lived in that house. What a beautiful pup and wonderful story.

It very easily could have gone the other way -- how wonderful that you rescued her. She will repay your kindness many times over with her devotion. In my opinion, there is no better family dog than a GSD. Thank you for sharing with us.

Thank you everyone for the Welcomes.. I am loving reading about the breed and tips from you guys and gals.

We are doing great, she is a very good girl. It was easy to get her house trained, she goes to the door now and sits, I just gave her a treat for every time she went potty outside and that seemed to do the trick. I have sit, and she is learning to come when called, I am just using treats to motivate her..

She is going through a mouthy faze right now, she doesn't hurt us, just being mouthy bugger.. LOL
A NO works, she stops right away and goes gets her chew toys

I have to admit, its nice knowing she is outside with my girls when they play. I know she loves them, and would protect them with her life if need be. Also, when my husband works nights, I am not so scared about a bear breaking into my house now..

I might be a dog person now.

Welcome from Michigan too! I have tears in my eyes reading your story. You have plenty of support here. These people are wonderful and very knowledgable! You are going to have some tough times, but its all worth it! They are an excellent breed and I'm very proud to say I love one!
