Greetings from Memphis, TN

Hello y'all.

I've been lurking on this site for awhile but have not had enough courage to say hi to everybody. Apologies.

I am not a GSD owner yet (hence, no pics, sorry

) , and I've been preparing myself so I can be ready when the time is right to bring home a GSD. I am leaning towards adopting a GSD from a reputable rescue.

My parents owned a GSD when I was a kid, and the memories of a loyal and intelligent dog still lasts in me to date. I've been doing a lot of reading about owning and training dogs, especially GSD and this site has been a great resource for that. Thanks!

I am currently reading this ebook "Adopting a rescue dog: The first 7 days" that I'd like to share with anyone who's thinking about adopting one .. it's from a humane society in KS

Welcome! This is a great place to learn. My husband grew up with a shepherd and that is why we have one now (#3). When we were first married and talking of a dog he said that was what he wanted so I went to the library and got any book I could on GSD. To this day I still pick up any mag that has GSD in it. You can never stop learning.

Post pictures when you get your dog.

Hello again!

This is our adopted GSD, LungSei (4th Dragon). He is one year old and so far it as been a pleasant experience having him. My wife and I are teaching him few basic OB commands and he's a super fast learner!

He showed some separation anxiety at bed time, barking (LOUD) nonstop, so we played a radio right next to his kennel (a tip from someone on this site ?) and he calmed down almost immediately before laying down and snoozing ..

The German Shepherd Dog Club of memphis is having their September meeting at the Perkins restaurant on Germantown Rd. Dinner at 6:30, meeting at 7 PM.

Consider going.
