Wow, he's gorgeous! Nice rich colors. Parasites, worms, stress, change in food can all cause diarrhea but I imagine you're aware of that. Good luck! Keep us posted

Oh, shoot. Forgot about the food. Do you have a Costco nearby? I feed Kirkland's lamb & rice from Costco, per the breeder. I do supplement with vitamins and homemade food instead of canned, though. Handsome dog.

I have 2 chis and other dogs of simalar size. My 4 pound male can alfa role my 60+ pound 10 month old female. Its funny **** stand real tall and growl and jump bark. Raising his front feet up. Shell lay on her belly and give him a lick. Then she jumps up and ZOOOM off she goes. Lol.

I just posted this on another thread:
www.brightstargsd.org/mainpages/adviseforowners.html

Keep in mind that it's the first few weeks after a dog has already been in a foster home for a minimum of 3 weeks - so you will have to do more work, more slowly.

Good luck and congrats on adopting!

Congrats and way to go on rescue! As far as training cost where I am Petsmart for 6 weeks was $120 my private trainer for 6 weeks is $210 but he is sooooo worth it!!! He is not giving his attention to other dogs. Also Petco/Petsmart are only allowed cetain training methods.

I trained at Petsmart for social purposes only. I had some issues with my pup barking at other dogs but that is fixed thanks to my new trainer. My old Petsmart trainer told me the other day that they are not allowed to use certain collars, methods etc. Mind you my private trainer is clicker and all positive, I just got the right collar for my purpose.

I second the poster who suggested finding a training club... they are usually cheaper than PetSmart/Petco and a better bang for your buck. PetSmart/Petco is very basic training and are hit or miss if the trainer is any good.

I also want to stress that group training is great for socialization as well as proofing commands in distractions. The dog will learn easily in the home with little distraction but you want him to listen to you anywhere no matter what is going on.

I have big and small dogs... my oldest GSD and my oldest boston terrier are very devoted to each other and never had a problem. My GSD pup who isnt two yet is much harder on the small dogs as he has alot of prey drive and though just playing (in his mind) I often have to step in and redirect their play to something more appropriate (he likes to make them squeak) Hopefully your two year old will be thru some of that puppy stage. I do want to say that I think GSDs "play" very differently than other dogs I have had... they can be very physical and rough housers so two thoughts... you may think he is "Attacking" and the Chi may be offended by that kind of play. So supervise, until they understand each other dont leave alone uncrated with you out of the house, observe what is play and when it gets over the line, be patient with both dogs (this is a big change for them), and have lots of fun.

Didn't get to bring Zeus home today! They were running behind on the surgeries and said it would be better to pick him up in the morning since he would still be knocked out from surgery at closing time....I went and bought him Taste of the Wild food, toys, basted dog bones and and size X-Large metal dog crate and some foam padding...I sure hope he fits into the crate....It looks like it could be a little if-y?
