I'm in the Green Bay area. (United States for those of you from other countries.)
We have a 9-month-old golden retriever, Juneau, who we are working with on obedience right now and I hope to do therapy work with. We've completed basic obedience and have finished the CGC class...not ready for testing yet, though, which is because of me, not her! My husband and I started out with a German Shepherd Dog many years ago and they are still one of our favorite breeds. (I grew up with Goldens, thus the addition to our family.) I recently announced that I fully intend to add a GSD to the family at some point down the line. I wasn't met with too much resistance. Only a look that said, "Resistance is futile...(I have been assimilated)!"While Juneau is perfect for our family right now, I miss the intensity of the GSD. |

hi allemand and lauraj...laura, are you from wisconsin too and do you have a shepherd? allemand, when you get one i'd like to put in a pitch for a rescue, you know you have a GREAT rescue in your area named white paws, they're very active in our urgent section here. the number of absolutely fabulous sheppies in rescue is astounding!
welcome to the board to both of you!

katieliz,
I'm familiar with White Paws. Our first shepherd was not necessarily rescue, but we were his fourth (fifth?) home. We also adopted a senior boston terrier through rescue. Now that we have a child, chickens and a cat, it gets pretty interesting trying to find a good fit. It's a route I'd love to take some day.
